Janet Elam

Janet (Jan) S. Elam, 43, went home Saturday, July 21st after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4th at 2:30 pm at Liberty Baptist Church 7461 N. Brown Station Rd, Columbia, MO.

Jan was born May 25, 1964 in Mexico, MO, the daughter of Louis and Ann Barnes Elam.
She lived in the Auxvasse-Mexico area until her family moved to Moberly where she graduated 8th grade at St. Pius X. She later moved to Columbia, where she attended Hickman High School. She was active in 4-H as a youth and volunteered in adulthood. Jan worked at Michael?s where she taught children crafts. Jan was a woman of many talents as she loved to do floral arranging and making crafts. She later worked at Weaver and Knernschield Mfg.

Jan is survived by a son Howard M. Elam, 26, and a daughter, Adelaide A. Elam, 9.
Also surviving are her mother Ann, sisters and spouses, Rick and Elizabeth Gunier, Dean and Shirley Patrick. Brothers and spouses, Louis and Rebecca Elam and Scott and Brenda Elam along with many nieces and nephews and one great nephew, all of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis, a brother Albert and grandparents Hamil and Hilda Elam.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for her daughter, Adelaide c/o Boone County Bank in Columbia.

    Janet was a lovely person and highly regarded among her co-workers at WMI.
