Janetta Lyn Ross

Janetta Lyn Ross was born on March 29, 1967, in Bessemer, Alabama, to James and Vernie C. Jackson. Nanette Jackson and Michael Ross also preceded her in death. At a very early age, Janetta moved from Alabama to Chicago and later attended school at Horseman Elementary and then South Shore High School, where her life’s journey would lead her to meet the love of her life, Travis Ross Sr. Their love grew into a beautiful marriage that spanned 37 years, and together they were blessed with two sons, Travis Ross Jr. and Kevin Ross, and one granddaughter, Kenzington Gray-Ross.

Janetta leaves behind a host of family, friends, and cherished memories: her husband, Travis Ross; sons, Travis Jamil Ross and Kevin Robert Ross; granddaughter, Kenzington Gray-Ross; mother-in-love, Cathrine Ross; poppy-in-law, Robert D. Ross; brothers and sisters, Robert Lawson, Teresa Henderson, Phyllis (Larry) Simon, Pat (James) Thompson, Edward Lawson, Tony Jackson, Gloria (Keith) Dixon, Joseph Jackson, and Muhammad Jackson; loving aunties, Mollie Jackson and Queen Esther Wright; sisters-in-law, April (Terance) Davis and Tracey (Maurice) Render; along with a host of nieces and nephews: Jazymne, Joy, Joshua, baby Kent, Kasem, Rakayla, Jamia, Makenzie, Monia, Jekai, Jesiah, John-John, Toya, Tiveca, Cynthia Crawford, Samantra Jackson (Peaches), Angela (Bernard) Baggett, and many more.

Janetta was a woman of faith who believed deeply in Jesus Christ and was a born-again Christian. Her faith was reflected not only in the words she spoke, but in the love, kindness, and care she showed to those around her.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a caregiver to many. Janetta possessed a kind and giving spirit and had a special way of making people feel loved and cared for. Her family was at the center of her life, and the memories she created with them will forever remain in their hearts.

Although Janetta’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave, the faith she carried, and the memories she created will continue to live through everyone whose life she touched.

Her smile will be remembered.
Her love will be treasured.
Her presence will be deeply missed.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
