Janice Edda Panknin
Janice Edda Howard Panknin, 83, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief hospitalization. She was born in Kansas City Missouri, on May 13, 1925, only daughter of Carl and Edda Howard. She grew up in east Kansas City Missouri and was a graduate of East High School. Janice worked for many years as an ad editor for various local shopping papers on the east side. Janice was happily married to Linden Panknin for 66 years. Janice and Linden were active square dancers for several decades. She was a skilled seamstress who created her own square dance outfits and apparel for her family. Janice will be remembered for her common sense, sense of humor, good cooking, and generous spirit. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and was always generous and thoughtful. She was greatly loved by her family and friends, and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Janice is survived by husband, Linden; two children, Michael and wife Janice Panknin; and Gina and husband Tommy Shick ; five grandchildren Andrew Shick and wife Michelle, Kelly Bayless, Alicia Panknin, Dr. David Yamada and wife Lynn; Brian Yamada and wife Kyla; and seven great-grandchildren Gunnar and Oscar Shick, Seth Bayless, Jack Yamada, Anne Yamada, Naomi Yamada, and Gabriel Yamada. Visitation will be 11-12:30 pm and funeral service at 12:30pm Wednesday December 10th at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd Raytown.
