Jason Michael Rogers passed away on July 11, 2012, at his home in Lathrop, MO, after a very courageous battle with Melanoma. Jason was a 1988 graduate of Smithville High School. He joined the army in 1988 and was a member of the 82nd Airborne. Jason graduated from Arizona Business Tech and Metropolitan Community College. Jason fulfilled his dream to become a police officer working for Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Lathrop Police Department. Jason was born in North Kansas City, MO, on Feb. 17, 1970, to Jerry and Janie Rogers. On Oct. 7, 2007, he married Janet Eddings. Jason is survived by his wife Janet, sons Dylan and Cole Riffle of the home, parents Jerry and Janie of Claycomo, MO, brother Brian (Vika) of Junction City, KS, sister Mechelle “Missy” Zimmerle (Kirk) of Kansas City, MO, sister-in-law Melanie Fields (Rob) of Kansas City, MO, his in-laws Glen and Mary Eddings of Kearney, MO, sister-in- law Elizabeth Eddings of Kearney, MO, nephews Aaron Bartch, Nick Hart, Brandon Zimmerle, Boston Tillery, nieces Rachel Hart, and Brittney Zimmerle, and his maternal great-grandmother Helen Lee. Visitation is Mon., July 16, at Heartland Funeral Home, 6-8 p.m., 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO. The family would like to thank Lathrop Police Department, Kansas City MO Police Department, MO Highway Patrol, the Legion Riders, KU Hospital, Doctor Gary Dolittle, Doctor Sean Jackson, the staff of KU Hospital, Doctor Maureen Sheehan, Kansas City Cancer Center, Captain Mike Wood, Jerry Ramos, Robin, Mark, and Melanie. Jason was a one-of-a-kind man and loved by many.
