Jean A Burnett

Jean A. Burnett, 74, Merriam passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015.

Jean was born to Roy and Florence Boyd. She was raised and resided in Merriam for most of her life. Jean attended school at South park and Shawnee Mission North as did her children. Jean has 3 surviving children, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In Jean’s younger days she really enjoyed taking annual trips to Las Vegas and she loved to mow the lawn. She is what some would call stubborn; she would always hang clothes out to dry no matter the temperature. Jean enjoyed spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren with chocolates and candies anytime they came to visit. She absolutely hated snakes and would always call her oldest son to come out and take care of them for her. Jean was a very outgoing, independent, strong willed and ornery individual. It’s the small things and these great memories that will keep her spirit alive. She will be loved and missed by many.

Cremation has taken place at Jeans request and no services will be held. To share a special memory of Jean, please click the leave a condolence button shown below.

I’ve known Jean for 30+ years. She has always enjoyed life and did things her way lol. She always said , “she wont change for anyone, if someone doesnt agree with or like her or like how she she does things, tough shit! lol.” Jean was also the first person to ever take me to a Casino and introduced me to the slot machines lol. I still remember her sitting down from me, wearing one white glove to play the machine, so her fingers didnt turn black. (A fact that she did not tell me, I found out the hard way…which she laughed at, when I showed her my stained fingers lol. She was a great lady. Jean will be missed by her friends & family.

Jean and her family lived next door to us when I was growing up-she was the best neighbor/friend my parents ever had! They loved her spunk and personality-she was a firecracker for sure-she will be missed a lot!!!
