JEAN SHAW ROGGY

Jean Shaw Roggy, 96, entered into the arms of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, December 12, 1012 at her home. Born May 19, 1916 in Beardstown, Illinois to Guy L. Shaw and Bessie Dillon Shaw, she was preceded in death by her younger brother Lyman Dillion Shaw and son-in-law Gerald R. Isenhower. She had four children, Ronald S. Roggy of Camdenton, MO and his twin sister Karen M. Choate (Roggy) of Kansas City North, Susan P. Isenhower (Roggy) of Raytown, MO and Bruce Shaw Roggy of Raytown, MO who was her caregiver for the past several years. Eleven grandchildren, Paula, Kari, Lynette, Mindy, Mark, David, Tammy, Debbie, Brian, Crystal and Jay; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Jean earned her bachelors degree at Illinois State Normal University and her Masters degree at U.M.K.C. She taught English, Speech and Drama in the Raytown School district for 42 years. Jean was a professional genealogist, tracing her ancestors back to the high kings of Scotland and Ireland; a world traveler of 36 countries and 40 of the United States. Jean was a prolific writer, producing her life story and many short stories, highlighted by an account of her time living in Washington D.C. during her father’s tenure as a Representatives for the State of Illinois. Jean reared her four Children from toddlers alone without help from her x-husband, since 1947. Hundreds of her students benefited from her unique knowledge and experience plus the personal care she gave each and every student. She was an active member of the Raytown Christian Church since 1961. Delta Kappa Gama and D.A.R. Jean can now be at peace in heaven with her father, mother and brother. This earth has lost an incredible jewel and heaven has gained a beautiful angel The memorial visitation will be held 1-2pm and funeral service following at 2pm, Tuesday December 18th at Raytown Christian Church 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown and burial at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown.
