September 12, 1977 – March 27th, 2025
Jeanne was born on September 12, 1977, the day of the Big Plaza Flood, here in Kansas City, MO. We should have all realized right then what a powerhouse she would be. There was hardly a dull moment in her life once she got rolling. Born to John & Dorothy (Kleine) Quinn, she was their first daughter and little sister to John and Tim. Along came little sister Carolyn, and younger brothers, Joe & Jim. Jeanne was the “cook” of the family. She always kept the pot stirring & bubbling with her bright personality and spirit.
She attended St. Regis grade school and went on to graduate from Archbishop O’Hara High School. She charmed all who knew her and always had “something” going on with all her friends. She loved being big sister to her Carolyn, Joe & Jim, and buddies with her big brothers. In high school she worked at Tippin’s Restaurant. With her Jeanne Magic for fun & flair, she made even more friends to fill her treasure chest. Then on to MU where her impact with old and new friends continued. She graduated with her degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management in 2000, and landed her first job with Classic Cup on the Plaza. That position stirred her always strong love of cooking and sharing her talents and treats with others. Apparently she was incredibly good at it, and then went on to work at the distinguished Webster House in the Crossroads. Then to the amazing Cafe Sebastienne at the Kemper Museum of Modern Art. She always made a name for herself as incredibly talented, hard working, and a joy to work with. She loved it all.
However, the restaurant business is grueling and was taking its toll on her body, and also her soul. She felt like something was missing. She had more to give…something up close and personal. She actually had a seed planted in her in high school when she volunteered at The Little Sisters of the Poor, polishing nails for the ladies there to brighten their days. That seed grew and blossomed to a whole new world of giving – eldercare.
She became Activities Director at Armour Oaks Senior Living Community. She was extraordinary! All of her gifts of giving, creativity, joy, kindness, laughter, and especially love given freely, and accepted joyfully. Jeanne then accepted the position of Life Enhancement Coordinator at Lakeview Village in Olathe. What a perfect title!!! She spread her magic there as well.
Jeanne battled many health challenges in the last few years, culminating with her fiercest battle. In January, she was hospitalized with Autoimmune Encephalitis. Her poor dear body gave out on March 27th, but never her heart and soul. She still kept trying to smile and let all of us know to keep loving and believing in each other. The beauty of life was truly the beauty of our Jeanne.
There are no words to express how much we will all miss her. She was a Phenomenon! But we will always hear her in the wind, the birds singing, in the fragrance of a flower, in the joy of laughter, in the soft tenderness of saying I love you, in the rush of water at The River…
She leaves behind her dear mother Dorothy. Her brother John Daniel Quinn and his wife Bridget, their children May & Edwin. Her brother Tim Quinn, his children Taylor & Kobe. Brother Joe Quinn, and brother Jim Quinn, and his husband Michael Yonan. Brother-in-law Jason Bernhardy and son Keegan. She will be joining in heaven, her beloved dad, John C. Quinn III, her dear sweet sister, Carolyn Quinn Bernhardy, her beautiful sister-in-law, Rebekah Quinn, as well as her grandparents, Mildred & John Henry Kleine, and Anne & John C. Quinn, Jr.
Services will be held on April 7th, 2025, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church at 8941 James A. Reed Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation at 10 a.m. with mass following at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
Prayers to the Quinn Family. Keep the Faith that She spread throughout her life.
I talked to her on Facebook months ago on the O’Hara page, which brought up a lot of memories of that place and all that have walked those halls.
John I know we didn’t talk much but if you or you Family need anything, your O’Hara Family is here for you all

What a Beautiful obituary. Our Jeanne was a true Phenomenon! She found joy in every person she met. She loved to record events at work, at the store, of family events, of trains passing by. We have many memories on her Facebook page to hear her express her joy in life. Peace, Love, Joy! Alleluia!! Ring your bells when something good happens and remember Jeanne.

When I came to O’Hara in the middle of my freshman year I felt like such a fish out of water. Here I was, an only child, at a school where all the kids grew up together. There were these large families and tradition of years of parents and kids alike walking the halls there. Jeanne was one of them and could have treated me like an outsider but instead welcomed me in. I’ll always remember that about her. She never treated me with anything but kindness and love. She was a special person. We were not besties or even close but she was the type to just send you a message and tell you she was thinking about you just out of the blue. We helped plan a couple class reunions and that was most of my adult experience with her. It was a good experience. I’ll always remember her spirit fondly. Prayers to all that were close to her.
Always so cheerful and bubbly. A little angel, always kind. A true testament to her strong faithfilled family
Prayers, love, and gratitude Heavenly Father. Thank you for her beautiful life.
I’m so sorry for your loss; it feels like a light has gone out in the world. Jeanne was a beautiful spirit with nothing but love and kindness for others. She saw good in everyone and spread joy and a sense of humor and compassion to everyone fortunate enough to have known her,
Jeanne was a ball of light, I haven’t seen her in many years but will never forget her spirit and kind soul and how she brought a joy and playfulness to any situation. Condolences to the Quinn family, she will be dearly missed.
The phenomenon Phoenix, dragonfly and butterfly. You were the light of my life Jean. I love you forever. I know Carlony and Parker are on one heck of a train ride through the universe… until we meet again, you’re in my heart and you’re in my soul, you’ll be my breathe should I get old. You’re my best friend. You’re in my soul. Soul Sisters forever. Towanda!!!
To the entire Quinn Family!
Jeanne was a gift to all who knew her. Our daughter, Misty was blessed to have had her in her life to share as a friend and former roommate and lifelong friend that will carry into the afterlife where they will in the future reunite in celebration!
Please know our hearts pray for you all to feel peace and prayers coming your way.
I worked with Jeanne at Cafe Sebastienne. I can always close my eyes and see her smile. It was an intense work environment and Jeanne always greeted me with a smile and Let’s Do This attitude. I’m so sorry for your loss. I wanted you to know what a big impact she had in our short time together!
