Jennifer Roxanne Liggett (Fisher)

Jennifer Roxanne Liggett (Fisher) was born on July 7, 1966, on a hot summer evening at 7:00pm, in Independence, Missouri, as the first child of David and Kathy Liggett. Jennifer passed peacefully at her home on May 10, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her three children Tyler, Kaitlynn, and Mickey; daughter-in-law Kalin; brother David, sister Ginger, and her parents David and Kathy.

Fourteen years ago, Jennifer registered to donate her body to science, but unfortunately because of her illness she was not a candidate.

Jennifer took great pride in caring for her grandchildren. Cecilia, Sullivan, and Henry were treated to all the things their “Nana” loved: horror movies, Harry Potter, rock music from the 1980s, playing video games, and putting Legos together. Jennifer felt incredibly lucky to spend so much time with her grandchildren.

Jennifer was truly a “big kid” when it came to video games and Legos. They were always at the top of her wish list. She also loved books, especially pop-up books. In the library in her home, she proudly displayed her book collections, the Harry Potter Lego Hogwarts Castle along with several other large Lego creations.

Jennifer was cared for during her final weeks by her brother David, sister Ginger, and daughter Kaitlynn. She was able to remain in her home, surrounded by the things she loved and cherished.

Jennifer leaves behind her parents David and Kathy Liggett; three children Tyler (Kalin) Fisher, Kaitlynn Fisher-Gouge, and Mickey (Raegan) Nelson; six grandchildren Cecilia, Sullivan, and Henry Gouge, David, Charlotte, and Simon Nelson; brother David (Marlea) Liggett; sister Ginger Duckworth; two nieces Maclair (DJ) Spruill and Liliana Duckworth; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents, David and Roberta Liggett, Warren and Rilma Biswell; six cousins, four aunts, six uncles, and one nephew. Jennifer always treasured having such a large extended family. During the biannual family reunions Jennifer could be found spending her time visiting with every aunt, uncle, and cousin. Jennifer was always the helpful person at family gatherings, upbeat, fun to be around, and dancing whenever music was playing.

One of Jennifer’s last sentences was, “more time” and if there had been any way for her family to grant that wish, they would have.

One of the lights of our lives has dimmed, but its glow will live on forever in our hearts.

Visitation will begin at 10am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Honorary pallbearers are David M. Liggett, Jr., David M. Liggett, III, Tyler J. Fisher, and Mickey M. Nelson.

A reception will follow immediately after the Celebration of Life at Event Palace, 6219 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133.

Jennifer was a burst of sunshine whenever she came into the real estate office and was so much fun to have around. I know how much her family meant to her and know how much she will be missed. Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers.

It’s such horribly sad news to lose such a fun, vivacious, loving person. Keeping the memories I have of her in my heart and top of mind.

I can remember Jennifer growing up around her many Aunts, Uncles and many cousins. She was always giving out compliments and loving her life to the fullest. I can only imagine the heart break and huge hole her passing is going to cause. We love you all ❤️

I only knew her for a short period of time, but she was someone who had such a big heart and so much love to give. I would so enjoy seeing her light up and be so giddy and happy when she’d see her little Henry. She extended that same love and affection to myself and my kids, they still talk about the gifts they received from her. She was incredibly generous, thoughtful, and intentional with her love. She loved her kids and grandkids with all of herself, and I am lucky to have experienced that.

I always Remember Jennifer with the biggest smile and the most infectious laugh. I will miss seeing her smile and hearing her laugh. I pray she is smiling with the angels up in heaven. I will never forget her beautiful personality and incredible laugh.

She was my older cousin who I always looked up to…She was one of my favorite cousins, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop missing her. 💔
I always knew I was going to laugh when she was around. She had such a funny spirit and a way of making people feel comfortable and loved. What meant the most to me was how genuinely interested she was in my life she truly cared.

It’s hard to believe she’s gone so quickly. The world feels a little dimmer without her in it, but I’ll always carry the memories, laughter, and love she gave so freely.

    Rest easy, beautiful Cuzzo!
