Jerry Lee Lowe

Jerry Lee Lowe passed away suddenly on May 29, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 76.

Jerry was born in Kirksville, MO on April 30, 1950, to Robert Lee Lowe and Dixie Jean Lowe (Bertschman). He attended Kirksville High School. At the age of 18, Jerry was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. After completing basic training at Camp Pendleton, California, he served in Vietnam for two years.

After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Jerry went into the trucking business and drove over the road for several years making his home in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Later in life, Jerry moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked as a maintenance supervisor specializing in HVAC installation and maintenance. He could operate almost any type of heavy construction machinery ranging from bulldozers to cranes. He was nicknamed “MacGyver” by his work colleagues due to his ability to creatively solve complex problems. He also had a love for plowing snow for community businesses in the winter and always took along his beloved Yorkie named Piper to keep him company.

Jerry never met a stranger, and that allowed for some long-lasting friendships to develop over the years. His friends meant a lot to him.
Jerry was always available to help his friends out with plumbing, HVAC issues, and more, as well as volunteering for community causes.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry.

He is survived by his brother Robert (Teresa) Lowe of Kirksville, MO; sister Julie (Mick) Crowley of Columbia, MO; sons Darin Lowe of Kirksville, MO and Cody Lowe of Bonner Springs, KS as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There are no services planned at this time.

I recently connected with Jerry through Facebook. Enjoyed his witty posts. I remember grandma Blanche reading his letters to me out loud while he was in Vietnam. He saw a lot of combat as a young soldier. My deepest respect for Jerry, as he served in Vietnam during the same time his uncle (my dad). Robin & Julie may God bless you and all your family. We’ve all lost an American hero.
