Jesse Ball

Jesse Ball, 94, passed away July 23, 2021 with family by his side. Jesse was born to Charles and Julia (Wilcox) Ball on March 24, 1927 in Eureka, KS. The family later moved to Humansville, MO where he grew up and met his wife Clara (Clampitt). Jesse followed in the footsteps of his 3 brothers by serving in the US Army from 1945-1947. He was selected for and attended an Honor Flight to D.C. on April 25, 2018. Clara and Jesse married on February 25, 1949 and raised their two children, Gary and Cathy, in Raytown, MO. Jesse worked for GM for 30 years retiring in May 1979. He enjoyed working on cars and showing his old cars in the Ararat Antique Auto Club. He was a lifetime member of the Raytown Masonic Lodge and the Ararat Shrine. Jesse loved to travel enjoying many summers in Alaska fishing for salmon and winters in Texas with his wife Clara.

Jesse is proceeded in death by his parents and his 8 siblings. He is survived by his Wife of 72 years Clara, his son Gary Ball, his daughter Cathy Brownfield, 6 Grandchildren, Christy Karr (Scott), Aaron Brownfield, Mindy Guthrie (Jeremy), Andrew Brownfield (Molly), Kelly Burr (Jordan), Kody Brownfield, 5 Great Grandchildren, Kaylea Lagrone, Alex Brownfield, Ensley and Cade Guthrie, and Oliver Burr as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & other extended family who still affectionally referred to him as Unlce Jesse.

Masks are required for all at the visitation on Aug 3, 2021 2:00-3:00 at Heartland Cremation & Burial in Raytown, MO with services immediately following. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Shriners Children Hospital shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.

    Clara, Gary and Cathy, I am so sorry to learn of Jess’ passing. I know he will be dearly missed. He was so much fun at the old Zumwalt gatherings and always had a big smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Prayers for comfort.

    My uncle Jesse was a male roll model for me after my father, Jesse’s older brother John, died shortly before I was born.
    He was a great example of what a father and husband should be.
    May God bless him and take him into heaven with open arms. Rest in peace Jesse.
