Joan Park

Joan Park passed away peacefully August 27, 2018 at the age of 86.  Joan was born a coal miner’s daughter in the mountains of Kentucky.  Upon marriage to her beloved, Curtis Park, they started a life together in his Texas home.  After a few years they moved to Oklahoma where they raised their three children, Curtis Ray, Vickie and Paul and began to welcome grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Curt Park and Natalie and Mackenzie Peters.  Joan and Curtis then retired to the Colorado Rocky Mountains for wonderful years of outdoor adventure with family and friends.  They ultimately chose to spend their final years in Columbia, Missouri.

Joan was a devoted wife, an admirable dedicated mother and a loving grandmother.  She is so missed.

Family and friends will gather in Colorado at a future date to honor the life of this remarkable woman and to scatter her ashes to join those of her late husband on their favorite mountain peak.

We are indeed grateful for the years of friendship we shared. Joan was a determined, energetic, witty and wise lady whose company was always delightful. Those of you in her family were definitely her pride and joy. We wish you only happy memories and comfort in knowing that she is now resting in peace.

I have wonderful memories of good times with Joan. She will always be a very special friend who shared happy times and challenges. She will be missed by all her bridge friends as well as those who also shared the joy of her smile and her humor. Blessings and peace be to all of her cherished family members who were so fortunate to share in her meaningful life

I have known Joan Park for the past 5 years. I will always remember her pretty smile and her amazing beautiful teeth. I loved the way she answered the phone, always seemed so happy to hear from me. I will miss her at our Thursday Night Dinners. Sympathies to her family, which she loved so much. Her eyes always lit up when she talked about her kids and grandkids. I know she will be missed terribly. I am happy to have had her in my life.

We met Curtis and Joan over 15 years ago and remember many fun times with them. We enjoyed hearing about Joan’s early life in Kentucky and her fun skiing experiences in Colorado. Joan always thought of others first while making everyone feel happy and welcome. Sympathies to all her family whom she loved immensely. She will always be missed.

Joan rapidly became a friend after she collapsed beside me in the hall at Lenoir Woods. She was a friendly, gentle person whose bright smile was a source of pleasure. I miss her. May your pleasant memories and love of family and friends help you through your grief.
