John Howard Richardson

John Howard Richardson 84, of Raytown, Missouri passed away January 7th, 2023 at his daughters home, surrounded by family.

He was born November 20, 1938 in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of Ethelbert “Bert” John Richardson and Beulah Christena “Chris” (Weaver) Richardson.
John  was employed as a Union Meat Cutter and worked for Balls Price Chopper where he retired approximately 25 years ago. He had several hobbies including growing orchids, which he won awards for including 1st place for creating his own hybrid which he named “Tiffany’s Flower” after his first granddaughter. In addition to the other activities he enjoyed with his brother Dick which included skydiving, rollerblading and biking the Katy Trail from Grain Valley to Columbia. He enjoyed tailgating at Chiefs football games with his family and co-workers. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.  

In November 2021, he moved in with his daughter in Grain Valley as his health began to decline, and he remained there where his family was able to spend quality time and provide the care he needed.  

Surviving are his daughter Debbie Richardson Chandler; son Sean Richardson; brother Tom Richardson;  7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Richardson, who passed away just over one year ago; and his brothers Dick Richardson and Roy Richardson.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Friday, January 20, 2023 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133.
