John Lee Gould

John Lee Gould, 69, Independence, Missouri passed away August 29, 2018 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.  A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00AM.  Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

John was born November 14, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.  John was a jet engine mechanic in the war.  He will be remembered for his humor and ability to make family and friends laugh.  John loved to go to Hooters and loved to have fun in life.

He is preceded in death by: parents; wife, Peggy and grandson, Matthew Taylor Jr.  Survivors include: daughters, Kimberly Killian, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Bridgette Hurla, Harrisonville, Missouri; son, John Gould Jr, Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Elizabeth Wise, Kearney, Missouri; son, Duane Gould, McLouth, Kansas; daughter, April McKarnin, Gainesville, Texas; son, Jeff Lee Gould, Destin, Florida; brothers, Charles Gould, Belton, Missouri; Thomas Gould, Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Sharon Reber, Kansas City, Missouri; 20 grandchildren and two great grandsons.

    So sorry for your loss. John was a great guy and a great step grandpa to my kids i was married to Peggy’s son Michael. There was never a time that we didn’t laugh about anything even if it was sad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May he fly high and watch over us.

    John’s humor was there as a child too. I remember laughing so hard with my cousin when we visited our grandparents. I do so appreciate his service to our country. Leavenworth National Cemetery is a most fitting resting place.
