John Ponce

John Ponce, 59, of Belton, MO, passed away April 17, 2006 at his home. John had only lived here a short time, moving from California, but anywhere he was, he always touched peoples hearts. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1973, with 2 tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart, twice. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Romo) Ponce; a brother Augustine; and a sister, Genevieve. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deborah (Graenser) Ponce of the home; children, John Gilbert, Ernie, Sean (Priscilla), and Michelle (Jose), all of California; and grandchildren, Steven David, Marcos, Lillianna, Ruben, Brianna, Savanna, Richard, and Matthew, all of California; one sister, Clara Sevilla, also of California. John opened his home to Marines during his time in the corps and well after. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all he met. A visitation is planned for 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society at 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133, with funeral services at 3 p.m. Cremation to follow.
