Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
John was a “Man’s Man.” He went home to meet the Lord surrounded by loving family members after a brief illness.
He was born in Oklahoma of American Indian heritage. He was so proud of this heritage. He was employed by General Mills for 44 years. He was an excellent employee winning several awards for outstanding service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved gardening. He began woodworking in retirement without any formal training. He enjoyed making beautiful items for friends and family. Place your order and he made it. One accomplishment he was so proud of was 26 years of sobriety. Our family thanks hospice for their wonderful care of John and our family.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn, daughter Debi Hough, grandson Justin (Christina) Hough, Chad Hough, great grandchildren Daley and Mason. He leaves two furry girls Jennie (Jack Russell) and Penny (Fox Terrier). They miss him so much. He had a large family of siblings and cousins and many friends.
He was one of a kind and we will miss him and his sense of humor. The family prefers donations to Wayside Waifs or Hospice of Kansas City.
Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Tuesday March 21, 2017 with a funeral service at 11 AM at Heartland 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo 64133. Burial will Follow at Mount Moriah Freeman Cemetery.
Love you Aunt Marylin and family. I’m so sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you all.

Some of the earliest memories I have is of playing with Aunt Marilyn and Uncle John at their house. He really cut a rug at my wedding too! I love you all, and grieve with you. He will be missed.
