Alan and I are grateful to the Lord for our paths crossing with Johnnie.. We always called him JC. We cherish the conversations, the graciousness, and the love he had for Jesus. He will be truly missed .
I have been seeing JC since the early 80’s in getting my haircut. Through the years got to know him and Kaylene. Always enjoyed talking to him on various topics. He definitely was committed to the Lord and his family. I’ll surely miss him. He’s in the Lords hands now!
My condolences go to the family. I have been going to have my hair done for several years with JC. I always enjoyed going there because he always had good Christian music playing and we always talked about things of the Lord. He was a Godly man who really loved his family. I sure will miss him but I know that we will see all our friends and loved ones when we get to heaven.
Dearest Kaylene and your family,
We were shocked and disappointed to learn of J.C.’s passing. We were so very blessed in knowing him and having him cut our hair for these years. We shared many heartfelt conversations about family and Spirit in our lives. We will miss him and his joy. He gave so much to everyone.
Love and Blessings to you as you move through this time of loss. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. Donna and Jim Sherman

Rest in peace J.C.
Kaylene and Family;
We are praying for the Peace of God to pour over you.
I met Johnnie shortly after he began his hairstyling business in Shawnee, KS and we friends right away. JC gave both of our sons their first hair cuts, and he continued cutting my hair until the last hair cut he gave me before he closed the shop.
JC was a bold witness for his Savior and influenced more lives than anyone will ever know, by his witness and by the continual playing of Christian Music in his shop.
JC was an encourager to those who crossed his path and when I think of Johnnie, I will be reminded of the scripture in
I Peter 3:15; Be prepared always to give anyone who asks, a reason for the hope that is in you.
Johnnie, you were always ready to give that answer.
I are rejoicing with our Brother Johnnie who is in the presence of Jesus!
My condolences to the family. I see that he believed deeply in Christ. Wonderful. Christ Jesus promises to resurrect the dead in the last days.
(John 11:24, 25). He is also preparing a wonderful place for them to live with their relatives and friends where death, sorrow, sickness and pain will be no more.(Revelation 21:1-4). I hope this helps some. Much more information at JW. ORG. Steve
a truly wonderful person. i started seeing JC for my haircuts probably about 1987 or so. as the years went by, i realized i went to see him as much as the the friendship we created…along with expert styling. i never saw him anything but serene, happy and at peace with all around him. we became friends while sharing our life stories of family, God, and current events. JC will be in my heart forever…he was someone who inspired the goodness of mankind. his faith was so strong—he with now with his Lord…as it should be. Peace JC.
I have been friends with JC since his shop was in King’s Cove. Over 35+ years our friendship blossomed. In 2003, when I was in OPMC ICU, dying from five lobe pneumonia, MRSA & SARS, JC would come to my bedside and pray every day. The day the doctors were ready to give up on me, JC prayed one last time for me to be spared. Later that day, my lungs stabilized and the next day I was off the ventilator, out of a coma & eating solid food. I cannot say enough good things about JC. I often would stop by his shop just to thank him for all he did for me and my family while I was sick and while on the road to recovery. Had some great conversations & debates while getting my hair cut by JC. He, a staunch conservative, and me, a moderate, could discuss politics without anger. I understood his positions and he mine. I doubt I will ever come across another person as great as JC. My though and prayers go out to his wife, Kaylene and his children Kristi & Jason and their families. If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I will never forget when JC styled my Austin Powers wig. This man was truly a blessing to everyone he came in contact with and was an astute businessman. We knew Johnnie since 1973 … that’s a long time and it leaves a deep hollow in our hearts because the kindness he shared with us was immeasurable. May God bless him and reward him with Crowns and we wish his family peace and comfort during their time of grief.
I was lucky enough to be hired by JC around 1982. As a young women fresh out of school he molded us to be the best we could be! Kaylene and JC became our “parent” thru love and nurturing our lives and new careers! He and Kaylene will always be in my heart for all the sacrifices they made for all of us young hairstylist! I will miss him til we meet in heaven again!
So sorry to hear the news of J.C.’s death. He was always so wonderful to me and my family. He will be greatly missed.
So very sad to learn of J Cs death just last evening! He was such an amazing man of God and each time I was able to have him restore some order to my hair I left looking better and more spiritually in order. He was cherished by so many and I know he is safely home with his heavenly father. Many prayers for his whole fsmily
I’m sorry for JC’s passing I missed it and I’m sorry to hear that he’s gone. We talked about Christ many times! I’ve been a patron of his for over 40 years! Starting back on Metcalf. I am very thankful to have know him! I hope to see him again someday.
My husband and I just found out about JC’s passing. Miles had been going to him since 1985 and I since 1996. Miles had crazy hair like JCs, so JC understood exactly how to cut it to project the professional image needed. He was also the only person who could cut my baby fine straight thinning hair, so it would grow out smoothly until the next cut. He also cut our two sons’ hair from first haircuts until they were in their teens and had to experiment with the bleaching and weird colors. We considered him a friend, and, after moving from OPKS in 2004, we continued to drive 65 miles from our home in Ozawkie KS to get our hair cut by him. We appreciated the peace in his shop and the Christian music constantly playing. Both our hearts are saddened today, and we are so sorry we missed his funeral. May his family know that he was loved by our family.
To JC’s family,
So sorry to learn of Johns passing. I first met him when he had his shop in the Kings Cove complex on 75th st. We became instant friends and when we retired and moved to TX both myself and my wife would see him at his last shop in OP.
He was a great guy and we look forward to seeimg him again in a better place!
