Johnny R. Gaume

Johnny Robert Gaume, 75, Hamilton, Missouri, passed away on March 1, 2014, surrounded by family at the Veterans Affair Kansas City Medical Center after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

He was born on September 7, 1938, the son of Lester and Marie (Eickholt) Gaume. Johnny was a lifetime resident of Hamilton. He worked for the family ice plant business until he went into the Army in 1961. He married Diana Kay (Shepard) on January 7, 1967, and had two daughters. He was a faithful member and an Eucharist minister of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of the Hamilton Counsel and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly of Chillicothe, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother “Little Joe”.

Survivors include his wife, Diana, of 47 years; Daughters, Tammy (Cort) Schweder and Terri Moore; Grandchildren-Zachary, Holli, Christopher,and Caleb; and Great-granddaughter, Averi; Sister, Helen (John) Farnan; and nephews, nieces, and close family friend, Father Bernard Branson.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton, with Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m., Visitation at 10 a.m., and a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Military Honors to follow provided by the Hamilton American Legion Post #285.

The family requests memorial contributions to be sent to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hamilton.
