Joyce Adkins Jeter

Joyce Adkins Jeter, 63, went Home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2017. Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents, Donald “George” and Lois “Colleen” Adkins, her siblings, Kathy and Jerry Adkins and her husband Ronnie Jeter. She is survived by her son, Brian Adkins, and her two adorable grandchildren, Brian Jr. and Riley Adkins as well as her siblings Donna Ressequie and Donald “Jr” Adkins, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joyce grew up in her cherished Northeast neighborhood, and currently resided in Independence. She was an active and much loved member of Sheffield Family Life Center Church, where she was a familiar and valued face! Joyce was involved in numerous ministries, including the Greeters and Security Ministries. In addition she was a prayer warrior and invited everyone she knew to be part of her beloved church. Joyce also volunteered in many, many civic activities. Joyce loved sports! She was the Kansas City Royals #1 fan! A heart of Blue, for sure. Joyce also enjoyed Pro-Wrestling, both current and ol’ school. She was an avid fan of her ol’ time heroes, Rufus R Jones, Bulldog Bob Brown, Handsome Harley Race and Danny Littlebear, just to name a few! Joyce also loved her family, and one of her favorite past-times was eating Godfather’s pizza with her brother “Jr”.

Joyce faced huge challenges in her life. She suffered from and incurable disease, Neurofibromatosis. She lost a leg to this disease. In spite of her challenges, or maybe because of them, Joyce NEVER let them stop her from doing for others. She never met a stranger. Her church has thousands of members, and there’s no doubt she touched almost every one of them in some way or another. Her generous spirit was second to none! And, she constantly had a smile for someone, no matter how ill and in pain she was! Her Facebook reflects constant focus on others, and constant requests of prayers for everyone! She was, indeed, fearfully and wonderfully made by our Lord, and we’ll miss her until we meet again in Eternity! As joyce always said, “Be Safe and God Bless!”.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sheffield Family Life Center, Jean Westlake Chapel, 5700 Winner Road, Kansas City, MO 64127

I live in Blue Springs and found a card in my yard with a popped balloon on the end. From a balloon release I presume. Sounds like a wonderful women. May she rest in peace.
