Joyce L. King

Joyce died peacefully on October 18, 2018 at Truman Lakewood Care Center. Services will be held on November 3, 2018 at 2pm at Unity Village, Silent Unity Chapel, 1901 NW Blue Parkway, Unity Village, MO 64065, In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Leavenworth County Humane Society, lchsinc.org.  Joyce spent the last four years of her life at this facility. During her stay at Truman Lakewood, Joyce charmed the staff and made many friends with her caregivers. Joyce was affectionately known as the “book lady”. Joyce finally got to do what she loved the most,
read all day, every day.

During her lifetime, Joyce was the ultimate caregiver as she took care of and nourished all those in her life. She took care of and nourished her grandchild, children, husband, mother, aunts, sister, brother, nieces and nephews and the friends of her children. She was always full of grace, dignity and strength.

Besides reading, Joyce loved to swim, go to the beach, garden, decorate for all holidays. Joyce and her husband, Fred loved to vacation by cruising the Caribbean. Joyce and Fred had many friends and spent their weekends enjoying
their friends and family.

Joyce was right when she stated that she had a good life and had been lucky as she was loved her whole life. She was truly loved by all that knew her and will continue to be loved forever. Joyce is proceeded in death by her parents, Murl and Mable McNeil, her husband, Fred King, her brother James McNeil and sister, Judith Jane Bruner. Joyce is survived by her children, Jeffrey King and his girlfriend, Mary Wheeler. Her daughter, Linda Steele and her husband Greg Steele. Joyce is also survived by the joy of her life, grandson, Jonathan Steele.
