On Sunday, August 22, 2021 I had lunch with Justin. We had met a few weeks before when he and some others were doing work at my home. I talked to him about the Lord quite a bit–he was interested. He told me he had never been to church. I invited him to visit the church my wife and I attend and he said he would like to. I told him I’d buy lunch when he came, and a couple of weeks later, on August 22, he came just as he had promised he would. At lunch (we had steaks with all the fixin’s) I explained to him why we need a savior–that every one of us has done things we knew were wrong, that we could not undo those things or fix ourselves, and so Jesus did all of that for us. He had ridden with me to the restaurant, and when we went back to my car I asked him if he would like to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior. He said yes. I told him he could just wait and pray when he got home if he wanted to, but he said, “No! I want to do it right now!” And so we prayed together. According the the Bible, at that moment Justin Millar became a child of God. Two weeks later he went to be with his Savior. I am eternally grateful that I took the opportunity to talk to him about Jesus, and even more grateful that he was willing to listen and to believe. I’m pushing 80 now, and sometime soon-ish (my family does tend to live to be quite old), I’ll join him in the presence of the Lord.
