Kala Leigh Riggs Jedlow

Kala Leigh Riggs Jedlow, born December 25, 1976, died Monday, February 1, 2016 at University Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 616 Jackson St., Columbia, MO 65203. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kala was an avid K.C. Sports fan and lover of Rat Terrier dogs, especially Sydney and Ripley, her fur babies. She liked playing cards, video and board games with family and friends. She crocheted with perfection, making many blankets, throws, scarfs and hats that she donated to homeless shelters and baby booties and caps donated to Birthright of Mid-Missouri in Jefferson City. Kala had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Some of her favorite songs include El Shaddai, which she sang frequently to her grandmother Helen and Let It Go from the movie Frozen. She also loved Christmas more than anyone we knew!

Kala is survived by her husband, Jonathan K. Jedlow, her fur babies, Sydney and Ripley, her mother, Mary Davis, step-father, Don Davis, brothers Jonathan Riggs (Michele), Jon Riggs (Crystal) and sister Jennifer Riggs (Nathan), nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Kala was preceded in death by her father, Cale S. Riggs.

I didn’t know Kala very well but what I did know of her is that she was a wonderful person. Positive, always upbeat never wanting to burden anyone else and was a great listener and she was really funny. She will be missed on the Rat Terrier Family Group and especially missed within our admin group. Blessed Be Kala and make you walk in the light forever!

Kala will be greatly missed. She was a beautiful spirit and we had many wonderful conversations. We met online due to our love of rat terriers and she was an Administrator of a group Rat Terrier Family on Face Book. We shed tears of sadness at the passing of her beloved Grandmother and shared her joy of baseball and rooted on the Royals with her. Kala was always kind to everyone and thus was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact. A beautiful light has gone out on earth but we have a new special angel in heaven. Dearest sweet Kala, our sincerest condolences to those you have left behind. Our prayers that whatever omnipotent power in which they believe brings them solace and that you find peace and freedom from pain and that your family will soon find healing. You are loved. God speed to eternal rest.

Our hearts break for our family in Missouri. We will miss our Kala Leigh very much. She was an amazing person who will always be remembered. God must have needed her for a greater purpose than we can understand. Pictures, memories and laughter will keep her close. Our trip in July 2015 will always be special as we made plans to get together again and more often. The mention of an RV trip with everyone together will always make me think of her. Love you all, Faye ???

I am simply heartbroken at the loss of our dear Kala! She was such a dear sweet person. She loved her family, her fur babies and her extended Rat Terrier Family. Our lives will not be the same without her; however, our lives have been richly blessed by her. I know she is surrounded with those she loved and that her grandmother met her with open arms. Prayers for you my friend and for your family.

Kala touched so many lives and made them better for having known her. Her connection to her family inspired me to come home and allowed me to have 3 years and six more months with my Mama before I lost her. I will forever be thankful for Kala’s friendship.
