Kathleen Bailey, 65, of Belton, MO peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, August 31, 2018, following a courageous nine-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 8th at The Church of Jesus Christ, Belton Restoration Branch, 16630 South Outer Road, Belton, MO 64012. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, and the memorial service at 12 noon.
She was born on September 4, 1952, in Fort Scott, KS, the third born of four children to Eugene and Betty Jane Farmer.
Aptly described as one of the most athletic members of the family, Kathleen loved to horseback ride – and her passion for being in nature was second to none. From hiking, and camping in Colorado – to tennis, white water rafting, and swimming in the ocean, she loved anything and everything outdoors. As a child, she even aspired to be Annie Oakley! She believed in having fun first.
Holding strong to her Christian faith and believing it was her mission to help and heal those in need; Kathleen went to nursing school, while also raising and instilling the best parts of herself in her four beautiful daughters, Theresa, Kristina, Jennifer, and Sunshyne. She also took a vested interest in the girls’ church youth groups. As swim instructor and camp counselor, for numerous church camps; Her work for God and love for her church family was never ending.
Kathleen will always be remembered not only for her smile and laughter, but for her love of her family, enjoying life and truly believing that every day is a gift from God and should be celebrated. Her compassionate heart and ability to show kindness was matched only by her genuine sense of wonder and adventure. She has left a beautiful and indelible mark on her family to pass along to their future generations.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Roger Oatman; her daughters, Theresa Bailey of Tahlequah, OK, Kristina (Reece) Johnson of Lone Jack, MO, Jennifer Bailey of Kansas City, MO, and Sunshyne Bailey of Kansas City, MO, her Parents Eugene Farmer and Betty Jane Farmer, Stepmother Ruthie Farmer, and Grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Ethan (Kiera) Johnson, Gabriella Johnson and Quinlan McFarland, and one great-grandson Liam Johnson. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Huyett, brothers, Rod (Kris) Farmer and Marty (Sandy) Farmer, and former husband William Bailey and countless relatives and friends, all who loved her dearly and have been inspired by her love, strength, and courage.
Memorial contributions are suggest to: Leukemia Lymphoma Society P.O. Box 12268, Newport News, VA 23612
My sweet Kathleen, now you are at rest with our Lord. You was and still a great and dear friend. We shared a lot in the past 20 plus years. Our Kids growing up. To our spouses up’s and downs we shared. You always helped so many. We laughed and cried together for that is what friends do. Your love for the outside you would share with me to see the beauty in all God’s creations. Our sharing lunches together (esp.) Applebee’s). Soup and salad. You never complain with all your pain. Even when I see your pain you did what you had to do to have a grand life. I will miss our simple talks and movies. You now in Heaven with the angels , as you are one now. Helping the Lord. I miss you and Love you. It’s not good Bye its until we meet again. Love Lynn.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers and Gods sweet comfort and peace be with the family .
Peaceful rest in paradise no longer in pain.
