Kenneth (Kenny) Albert Pence

Kenneth (Kenny) Albert Pence, age 75, of Pittsburg, MO passed away peacefully at home February 19, 2019 surrounded by family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb 26 from 6-8 pm at First Baptist Church in Hermitage, Mo. Another visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 28, at Heartland, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. Graveside service will follow at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown on Friday, March 1 at 11am. Kenny was born June 22, 1943, in Kansas City, to Russell Sr. and Dorothy (Peters) Pence.

Kenny and his wife Janet were members of First Baptist Church in Hermitage, Mo where he and Janet served by tending to the flowers. He loved being able to donate those flowers for his church family and the community to enjoy. He was an avid bowler when he was younger with many perfect games and was honored as Bowler of the Year in 1968. He loved playing golf with his family and lifelong friend Sherman Ragsdale. Later, after moving to Pomme de Terre Lake, he took up crappie fishing. He couldn’t wait to fish with his family and his fishing buddy, Mike Harter. He would start talking and planning those fishing trips as soon as Christmas passed each year.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Dorothy Pence; his sister Barbara; and his brother Russel Pence, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Janet Pence; his children: Doug Pence and his wife Cheryl (Rye, CO), Bruce Pence and his wife Tressa (Raymore, MO), Scot Baldwin and his wife Melissa (Lees Summit, MO), Greg Baldwin and Andrea (Pittsburg, MO); 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Flowers will be planted in his memory at First Baptist Church. In lieu of burial flowers, the family asks that donations be made to “Ken Pence Memorial Fund”. Donations may be left at the funeral home or sent to “Ken Pence Memorial Fund” at Hermitage First Baptist Church, PO Box 165, 18650 Spring Street, Hermitage Mo 65668. ? Visitation will be held from 6-8 at First Baptist Church in Hermitage, MO and at Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Feb 28 at Heartland Funeral Home in Raytown, MO

Graveside services for family will be at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown, MO and a lunch for immediate family will be served following the graveside services at Sterling Acres Baptist Church, 11200 E 47th St, Kansas City, MO.
