Kimberly Ann Poe

Born August 19th, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri to William J and Connie I Poe. Kim went to be with the Lord on June 3,2020. She was at home with her family by her side. Kim was one of God’s special children. Kim gave more love than what she required. Her smile was infectious. Kim was not expected to live long; she was baptized at the hospital the day she was born. Kim was in the hospital more than she was home the first few years of her life. To her brothers and sisters Kim seemed just like a normal child of the Poe Tribe.

When Kim was almost 5 she went to live at Higginsville State School for about 2 yrs. She participated in the self help program to learn how to take care of herself and learn domestic skills. Kim attended Lakeview Woods State School. She participated in cheerleading and bowling with the Special Olympics. Kim lived with her older sister Teresa (Teasa) for a short period before she moved into Cedars group home.  Kim loved to go to work at the workshops and took her work very seriously. Kim was always ready to get on the bus for work wind, rain, sleet or snow. When they called off work due to weather she would let you know she did not like that.

Kim went to live with her (baby) sister, Diana and husband Brian Norton (she called him Norton). There she flourished and was very happy! She was an avid Chiefs, race car and UFC fights fan.  She loved to GO!!!! Kim loved to sing and dance to all types of music. Kim loved to be with her family, play cards (collected decks from all over) and she would spend lots of time copying versus out of her bible. Kim was later baptized again at her request.

Kim is survived by: her father, William J Poe; her older brother, Michael J Poe  & wife Siska; big sister, Teresa L Hudson & husband, Victor; 2nd brother, Jeffery D Poe and baby sister ,Diana L Norton & husband, Brian. She is also survived by; her special nephews, William Hudson, Christian Hudson, Ean Poe and niece, Sara Jo Poe and her great nieces, Makaley and Caydin. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Connie I Poe; paternal and maternal grandparents;  nephew, (baby Dean) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

If anyone wants to send flowers please have them delivered to church on Sat 6/13  by 2:30pm, or if you would like to make a donation in Kim’s name, please make it to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 East 2nd Street South, Suite 600, Independence, Missouri 64055.

I didn’t cry until the last picture with Diana and Kim out in the ocean together. This video was perfect—–shows what a happy, rewarding, fun packed life she lived. The younger pictures remind me so much of Nita—could have been sisters!! The slides I really enjoyed were when Kim was looking at a young girl and she had her face in her hands, second when I got to see my old couch, and last I needed to see Brian in the jail with Kim instead of the other man!! This video was perfect in every way—thanks for sharing with us. The words, the pictures everything was terrific. I’m still sad but this video made my heart smile. Diana and Brian—you done good!!

    Diana and Brian(“Norton”).
I never had the opportunity to meet Kim, but from her picture, she looks like a very loving and wonderful person. I am so happy that she was able to live with you. I am sure that at times it was very busy at your home. She is home with the Lord and I bet she is telling Him all about you both, as well as about all of her loving family and friends. I pray that God will wrap this loving arms around you and bring you comfort. Blessings to you.
