Krystal Ann Johnson

Krystal Ann Johnson (born Krystal Ann Moore), 38, of Overland Park, KS entered heaven on Monday, October 26th, 2020.  All who knew Krystal can attest that she had a heart for God and others.  She always had a smile on her face and had an amazing ability of making everyone feel important and special.  Krystal was beautiful, strong, humble, full of grace and always had an eye for style.
Krystal was born on August 12th, 1982 in Madison, WI and lived in Cottage Grove, WI at the time of birth.  Many of her early years were spent in southeast KS with her mom and dad.  Life eventually brought her to Lee’s Summit, MO where she attended Underwood Elementary School, Bernard Campbell Middle School and Lee’s Summit North High School.  Krystal graduated from Lee’s Summit North High School in May of 2000 and went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design from Missouri State University in 2004.  Shortly after graduating from college, Krystal married her high school sweetheart, Dusty Johnson, on May 16th, 2005.  The two of them introduced five sons (Tristin – 13, Brek – 12, Tate – 9, Britton – 7, Truitt – 3) and one daughter (Brylee – 1) into this world from 2007 to 2019.  Krystal fulfilled some of her biggest dreams by getting married, having a family of her own and doing it all perfectly.  In July of 2019  Krystal was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.  She fought a ferocious battle for 15 months before she was called to heaven.  Krystal will forever be remembered for being a light in this world.  She was an amazing mom, wife, daughter and friend.  To learn more about Krystal’s story, please visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/krystal.johnson
Krystal is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Mary and Fred Vandervest; her grandfather, Orville Vandervest; her great-uncle Marvin Vandervest and uncle, Richard Riederer.  She is survived by her husband, Dusty Johnson and her beautiful children; Tristin, Brek, Tate, Britton, Truitt and Brylee Johnson.   She was the daughter of her surviving mother, Jean Hilsmann of Abrams, WI and is also survived by many extended family members of Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Doug and Karen Johnson had the pleasure of having Krystal as their second daughter.  Jamie Amspacker and Chad Johnson also had the pleasure of having her as their sister-in-law.
Krystal Johnson, your legacy will live on in your husband, your children, extended family and the other lives you touched for the remainder of their time here on earth.  You will be a part of every family tradition, birthday, holiday and all of our special moments.  Your love will forever be cherished in our hearts and your dreams will be fulfilled by your family for years to come.  You are truly an angel to all who knew you and we will love you today, tomorrow and for all of eternity.
The interment will occur at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS and will be open to family only.  Krystal’s celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, November 13th, 2020 at Grace Church, 8500 W. 159th St., Overland Park, KS 66223 and is open to all.
