Larry Alan Shiner

Larry Alan Shiner, 76, of Raytown, MO passed away October 14, 2023 at his home from complications from Alzheimer’s. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at King’s Way United Methodist Church, Springfield, MO. Mr. Shiner was born November 1, 1946 in Kansas City, MO.

Larry was raised in Springfield, MO, and was a member of the first graduating class from Glendale High School in 1964. He served his country with two tours of duty in the Vietnam War as a member of the Air Force. After returning home, he received a B.S. in Accounting from Southwest Missouri State University. He spent his career as an accountant and entrepreneur, with a long period of employment with Wood’s Supermarkets in Southwest Missouri. Later in his career, he served as the President for the Chamber of Commerce in Riverside, MO, while acting as general manager of Riverside Red X. During his life, he was an avid bowler and athlete, who loved Stan Musial and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also a life-long Kansas City Chiefs fan. Larry was a true and loyal friend to all who knew him, and a supportive and loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by: father, William F. Shiner; and mother, Lily Shiner (nee Rylands).

Survivors include: wife of fifty one (51) years, Janet Shiner (nee Phillips) of Raytown, MO; son, Jeffrey Shiner, and his wife, Heather, of St. Louis, MO; son, Jeremy Shiner, and his wife Christina, of Lee’s Summit, MO; four grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, Elizabeth and Julia; sister, Elaine Werdeman, and her husband, Bill, of Springfield, MO; nephew, Andrew Werdeman, and his wife Rhonda, of Springfield, MO; and including an extended list of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
