Larry Hasenbank, 79, of Olathe, KS passed away June 23, 2023 at Cameron Veterans Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
Larry was born July 19, 1944 in Wamego, KS. In Larry’s early years, he attended Wyandotte High School, married Sherry Dake, drafted into the US Army, stationed in Fort Collins Colo. After being discharged from the Army, he returned to Kansas to have two children. He worked at the Burlington railroad for 22yrs. Sadly Sherry succumbed to cancer after 20yrs of marriage. Larry found a wonderful companion afterwards with Janis Roberts, they built a home together in Olathe Kansas, were Larry’s passions for projects and love for working with his hands thrived. He will be remembered for his dedication to family and his infectious spirit and kindness.
He was preceded in death by: father, Arnold Hasenbank and mother, Ella Feyh.
Larry is survived by his two children Deborah (Brian) Reed and James (Angie) Hasenbank; companion, Janis Roberts, her two children Austin and Courtney; two grandchildren, Rusty (Stacy) Gear and Gunther Hasenbank; two great grandchildren, Brigham and Melia Gear.
His passing leaves a void in these lives, but his memory will be kept alive through the stories and shared experiences.
