Larry L. Base

Larry Base passed away January 28th at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. He was born August 21, 1932 in Great Bend, Kansas. He met the love of his life, Viola, in 1953 and married her June 7, 1954. This union was blessed with 4 sons and a daughter. He then served in the US Army before graduating from Kansas State University. He later earned his MBA from UMKC in 1974. Larry retired from TWA as a project manager; he was also a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Tri-County Council 3414 in addition to serving as a 4th Degree Knight. His joys in life included traveling, playing cards and gardening. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Evelyn Base, his wife of 53 years, Viola, and two grandchildren, Gregory Base and Julie Base. He is survived by his children Mike and Beth of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Martin and Karen of Terra Haute, Indiana; Mary of Kansas City, Missouri; Tom and Cheryl of Acworth, Georgia; and Tim and Leslie of Kansas City, Kansas, as well as 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial services are to be held at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish on Friday, February 17th from 5-8 PM, with the Rosary at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will take place Saturday, February 18th at 9 AM. Inurnment at Leavenworth National Cemetery to follow at a later date. The family kindly requests no flowers.
