Laura Maxine Deutscher

Laura Maxine (Rountree) Deutscher, 100, of Shawnee, KS passed away September 20, 2020. She was born on June 17, 1920 in Wakeeney, Kansas to parents, Agnus and Adison Rountree.

Laura graduated form high school in 1938. She had an Indian heritage. Her maternal grandparents name was Moses. Laura’s father never owned or drove a car, he had a horse and wagon. Laura lived through the dust bowl years of the 1930s and said that she thought all the wind and dust was normal. She was musical and played many instruments including: French Horn, Clarinet, Cello, Violin, Piano and Organ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include: son, Douglas Chambers of Shawnee, KS; daughter-in-law, Virginia Chambers of Shawnee, KS; six grandchildren, Loren (Michele) Chambers of Shawnee, KS, Joby (Eunice) Chambers of Shawnee, KS, Douglas (Lissett) Chambers of Tucson, AZ, Amanda (Jake) Chappelow of Lenexa, KS, Gabriel (Jill) Chambers of Lenexa, KS, Virginia (Bobby) Chambers of Pheonix, AZ; eleven great-grandchildren, Colten, Kendall, Miles, Maizy, Marlee, Derrick, David, Mary, Natalie, Harrison and Chase.
