Lawrence “Buddy” Smith

Lawrence G. “Buddy” Smith, 77, of Independence, Missouri, died September 13, 2005 at VAMC, KCMO. He served three tours of duty in the USMC with found memories of the Orient. He was a past member of the Abdula Shrine in Sedalia, Missouri, and a loving person. Lawrence was born in Worley, KY, August 13, 1928, oldest son of George and Mattie Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by brothers, Boyce and Charles Smith; sisters, Alma Roberts, Faye Forson, Joyce Hellstrom, and Brenda Fuqua Conley; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Larry leaves his wife, Purney, and two grandchildren, Lynn Marie and Christopher, of the home; his son, Lawrence Gene Boggio and his wife, Sherry, and their family in Cincinnati, Ohio, stepchildren, Ronald M. Shaw Jr. and Pauline, Katrina Flippin and Floyd, Tammie Shaw and Tracy Duffey of Kansas City; eight other grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial service 11 a.m. September 23, 2005 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
