Lawrence Edward Prettyman

Lawrence Edward Prettyman (Larry), 70, of Raytown, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 10-11AM at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, Missouri. A funeral service will begin at 11AM also at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society.  The graveside service will be immediately following the service at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri. A dinner for family and friends will be held after the burial at Independence Masonic Lodge 120 S Pleasant St, Independence, MO 64050. Larry was born on January 28, 1949 in Harrisonville, Missouri to William and Dorothy Barrclough.

Larry loved cooking, gardening, crafting, camping and fishing. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. Larry enjoyed helping in church and Boy Scouts with his sons James and Ray.

Larry has six brothers and sisters; Cindy Susko, Brad Olson, Mark Olson, Rodney Olson, Bruce Olson and Teresa Garner. He also has 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his father William Barrclough, mother Dorothy Olson, step father Melvin Olson, brother William Prettyman, sister Susan Cubbage, son Harry Prettyman, daughter Evelyn Prettyman, and son Jamie (Brenda) Owings.

Larry is survived by his wife Carlie Prettyman, sons James and Ray Prettyman, daughters Sarah and Angie Prettyman, and 3 step children Manuel Rodenberg, Michelle Clark, and Robert Pastor.

    Miss u so much Larry I know it’s only been since march 9th but it seems longer. I would of known u for 7 years in Oct u were a funny guy and made me laugh alot with ur jokes. Love u grandpa Larry always and forever.

    So vey sorry for your family’s loss. Larry was a joyful person, always kind, never a harsh word to anyone but with that wonderful dry humor shining through. I had the honor to know Larry as his NP that seen him many times at the dialysis unit over the years. Years passed and I saw this brave man fight time and time again to recover his health so he could be there for his wife and family. For me, Larry is a saint …surely has been made whole and is in Heaven making the angels smile and laugh.
