Lesta Jane Broshar, born October 18, 1928 to E.R. and Helen Lesta Longennecker, joined her husband Wayne and brothers Richard and Bruce at the gin rummy table in heaven on February 26, 2008. The greatest joy of her life was being a nurturing and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses Becci and David Thompson and LaShelle and John Thurman, grandchildren Skyler Thompson, Sunsia and husband John O’Brien, Shane and wife Christy Thompson, Jeff and wife Krissi Thurman, and nine great-grandchildren, Paige, Jace, Alexandrea, Colin ,Carter, MAson,Seth, Triniti and Tierni. Jane was a woman of many talents. She spent 28 years as a hair stylist, managing salons in Chicago, Des Moines, Califorina, St Louis and Kansas City. Because of her love of style and decorating, she studied and became an Interior Designer, workding for J.C. Penny’s then entering in to her own business. The last 18 years of her career was as a top salesman for Dillard’s in the furniture department, finally retiring in August 2001. Retirement did not slow her down, She performed with the Encore Theater group in Independence, took line dancing and computer classes, sand with the Seniors choir, joined the Red Hats, and helped with fund raising for Nu Era and Girls Club of America. Through these many adventures she happened upon love for the second time and spent 2 years with partner Ed Cole, traveling, shopping, and eating! Their most favorite times were spent quietly watching TV and holding hands. Her positive attitude and giving nature earned her love and respect by all who knew her. A celebration of life is to be determined at a later date
