Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Linda Ann (Clasby) Malicoat, 74, joyfully entered Heaven on January 23rd, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Independence, MO.
Linda was born on June 26, 1946 to Lawrence and Pearl Clasby, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1964, and raised her family with late Husband, Paul Malicoat. She worked at Kansas City Life and DST Systems, as well as the Independence School District, where she helped pioneer the Parents as First Teachers Program.
Linda was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her extended family. She loved people and never met a stranger, even when traveling. She had a smile that would light up a room, a heart that would help anyone in need, and a personality way bigger than her tiny frame.
She is survived by a sister, Donna Newton (Glen), brothers Robert Clasby (Barb) and John Clasby, children Jeffrey Malicoat, Paul M. Malicoat (Kelly), Michael T. Gardner, Christy Tarpenning (Bob), Beth Gehring (Mike) and Steve Malicoat (Brandy), 15 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and so many friends.
We will miss her humor, her thoughtfulness, her charm, and her big hugs. We can find peace knowing Heaven is a livelier place now with Linda in it. She is singing with the Angels….off key, of course!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Linda treated Judy and me like family. She was beloved by my many clients as well. Her events we always fun and she went the extra mile to ensure they exceeded our expectations. I still remember two team building scavenger hunts she organized for us with clients. One was in Scottsdale and one in KC. They including putting us in some hilarious situations that really broke down the barriers between our respective teams. It improved our professional and personal relationships. I’ll miss her creativity and kindness. I can only imagine the joy she brought to her family.
Oh my, my heart breaks for her and all her friends and family. We grew up together in Bristol Grade School on Northern Blvd and our 5 years together at Van Horn HS. We were the best of friends and my heart is truly saddened with her departure from this life. I will see her on the other side much later down the road.
All my love and devoted friendship is with you forever,
Mel Dunkerley
