Linda Kay Norred, age 72 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, in her home. She was born February 7, 1953, in Kansas City, MO, to the late John and Ruth Norred.
Linda grew up as the fifth of six children in Kansas City. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1971, where she was in the National Honor Society and Pep Club. She then began an extensive career working for the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in the Human Services department for 36 years before retiring in 2007. After retiring, she continued to dedicate her time working with Head Start programs as a contractor.
She loved traveling, spending time with her nieces and nephews, and taking them on grand adventures. She would spend much of her free time crafting and sewing clothes and costumes for her family. Linda loved all animals, especially hummingbirds, and she was a mother to many cats and dogs over the years. She loved music and dancing. She genuinely enjoyed making lasting friendships with everyone she could at The Community Apartments and throughout life. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Norred; brother, Phillip Norred; brother John Norred; wife Cris; brother Ron Norred; and wife Cheryl.
She is survived and deeply missed by her sisters Sandra (Ron) Cogdill and Karen Norred, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who fondly cherish their memories with Aunt Linda: Phil Jay Pursel, Chris (Fran) Cogdill, Dee (Tony) O’Reilly, Nikki (Brian) Boekhout, Josh (Aubrey) Seitz. Matt Norred, Johnna (Chris) Jenkins, Raeann (Nick) Bromert, and Melissa (Alex) Hedrick. And seventeen great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at The Calling Community Church located at 2901 Williamsburg Terr. Platte City, MO. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at The Calling Community Church.
