Linda Marie Hedges

Linda Hedges was born January 6, 1947 in Independence Missouri. She was born to Larena (Bateman, Hedges) Donnell and William Hedges of Indep. MO. She grew up at Higginsville State School, and later lived at a group home on N. River in Independence, MO.  She lived with her Aunt Viola Bateman, a retired nurse from the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital in Independence.  Linda lived briefly with her cousin Peggy Aker and a friend of the family Dorthy Henderson, then finally with her sister Nancy Mathis which required a move to the Houston area of Texas.  After moving back to Missouri Linda was diagnosed with ALS, finally needing to go to a nursing home.  She stayed one month at the Villages of Jackson Creek and one month at Independence Manor.  Linda loved to dance and sing.  She also loved lots of BLING, and had a real passion for horses and anything related to American Indians.  Linda died this past Monday, August 20th 2012.  A memorial service will be held 7 PM, Friday, August 24, 2012 at Walnut Park Community of Christ Church, 1137 S. Pearl St., Independence, MO 64133.
