Lisa Geisendorfer-Johns

Lisa Geisendorfer-Johns, of Platte City, MO, passed away on February 8, 2017 in her home. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing. As in all things in her life, this battle was fought with dignity and strength.

Lisa was born the second child of John E. and Nancy J. Geisendorfer on April 11, 1963, in Quincy IL. She attended Lewis Co Schools graduating from Highland High School with the Class of 1981.

She married her companion of 25 years, Michael J. Johns, on December 24, 2015. Lisa retired from Ford Motor Company after 28 years. Always living life to the fullest, she was an accomplished quilter, loved to snowmobile and loved travelling. Her proudest moment was when she and Mike completed travelling to each of the 48 contiguous states on their Honda Gold Wing. Her greatest pride and joy were her two “children”, dogs Jake and Nikko.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Johns, mother Nancy Geisendorfer of Monticello, brother Bill (Shelly) Geisendorfer of Lewistown, sister Traci (Mike) Bringer of Monticello, sister Tricia (Richard) Sly of Ewing, maternal grandmother Dorris Ellison of Canton, several nephews and nieces, many aunts and uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father John Geisendorfer, maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents, and one niece. In lieu of flowers, at Lisa’s suggestion, memorials can be made to the Kansas City Doberman Rescue Society in her name and can be mailed to P.O Box 681166 Riverside, Missouri 64168.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Monticello United Methodist Church, 107 N. Jackson Street, Monticello, Missouri 63457. There will be a Celebration of Life for Lisa’s local friends at Tanner’s Bar and Grill in Platte City on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m.

I expect a common sentiment expressed about Lisa’s character was her ability to always make others feel good and having a positive attitude/outlook on life. I never recall a conversation with Lisa where she had a disparaging word to say about anyone, which is a rare thing these days. I consider it a privilege to have known Lisa during our years as high school classmates and call her my friend. God bless Lisa and my sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

Lisa and I hired into Ford on the same day and worked together in the Paint Shop for many years. She was a very nice person and never let things there get to her, which is remarkable if you worked at Ford. She will be greatly missed, in manus tuas Domine commendo spiritum meum.
