Lon F. Landes, Sr., 79, of St. Joseph, died Saturday, May 14th at the Kansas City VA Hospital.  Lon was born Nov 4, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO to Frank and Jennie Landes, who preceded him in death.

Lon graduated from Lafayette High School and served in the Air National Guard. He had worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the St. Joseph Police Department. He was retired from the St. Joseph Fire Department and the Buchanan County Courthouse.

He is survived by two sons; Lon Jr. (Linda) of St. Joseph and Brett (Eva) of Lenexa, KS.  He had 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Landes will be cremated under the direction of Heartland Cremation & Burial Society of Raytown, MO.  There is no service planned at this time.
