Lorenza Slinger

Lorenza Don Slinger, 82, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on June 20, 2010. He was born June 30, 1927 in Higginsville, MO. He attended grade schools in Higginsville and Richmond and graduated from high school in Carrollton, MO. He attained a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He served in World War II and Korea as a S/Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after 31 years work at the Federal Aviation Administration. He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche David; father, Ashberry; brother, Bobby Lee; and sister, Betty Jean. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Nina; a daughter, Diana; a son, Eugene; 2 grandsons, Kevin and Raymond; a great grandson, Andrew; a brother, Billy Joe Slinger; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Heartland Cremation, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO, with a funeral service to begin at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Manor House, 2107 Holke Rd., Independence, MO 64057.
