Lori Laverty

Lori Laverty, 65, of Rocheport, passed away peacefully on 10/29/2026 from Illness. Born on 02/18/1961 in Fort Bragg.

Lori lived a life marked by curiosity, compassion, and adventure. A passionate Anglophile, she fulfilled
her lifelong love of British culture by spending several years living in the United Kingdom. During her
travels abroad, she met the love of her life, Neil Laverty, in Scotland. Their chance meeting blossomed
into a beautiful love story, and they were married on September 1, 2006. Together they shared a marriage
filled with friendship, laughter, devotion, and adventure.

Lori found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener who delighted in cultivating beauty, a
devoted antiquing enthusiast always searching for hidden treasures, and a voracious reader whose love of
books and learning never faded. Her curiosity about the world and passion for knowledge enriched her
life and inspired those around her.

Lori especially treasured time spent with family and friends. She never passed up an opportunity to
gather around a table for board games or card games, and those who played with her knew she brought
both enthusiasm and a competitive spirit to every match. Whether it was a longtime favorite game or
learning a new one, Lori delighted in the challenge, the laughter, and the fellowship that came with it.
Some of her family’s fondest memories will forever be the many hours spent playing games, sharing
stories, and enjoying each other’s company.

A passionate advocate for animal welfare, Lori devoted countless hours to dog rescue efforts, especially
for pit bulls. She worked tirelessly to help these often misunderstood dogs find loving forever homes and
was a steadfast supporter of rescue organizations and responsible pet ownership. Her compassion for
animals reflected the kindness and generosity she showed to everyone she met.

Those who knew Lori will remember her warm heart, quick wit, adventurous spirit, and unwavering
loyalty. Whether sharing stories of her travels, discussing a favorite book, tending her garden, competing
in a spirited game of cards, or helping an animal in need, Lori left a lasting impression on all who crossed
her path.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Neil Laverty; her parents, Patricia Ann Horrell and Jerald Allan
Hellemeyer; sister Susan Brooks and her husband, Kevin, of Denison, Texas; sister Tracy Manning and
her husband, Mike, of Caney, Oklahoma; brother Michael Hellemeyer and his wife, Debbie, of Villa
Ridge, Missouri; brother J.C. Hellemeyer and his partner, Tom Perkins, of Columbia, Missouri; six
nieces and nephews; twelve great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends and loved ones who
will forever cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a local animal rescue
organization in honor of Lori’s lifelong commitment to helping animals, especially rescue dogs, find
loving homes.
