Lydia Pilkington

Lydia Pilkington, 94, Raytown, Missouri left this world on July 4, 2016 to be reunited with the love of her life, Lee, and in to the accepting arms of her Heavenly Father.  Lydia was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 24, 1922 to Emerson and Lydia Whinery and was the youngest of four sisters.   She married Joe Lee Pilkington on June 28, 1941.  Their marriage was blessed with two children.  Lydia was a devoted wife and mother and  took great joy in her family.

Lydia was a follower of Jesus Christ and through seeing her faith and the example she set all of her family has come to follow Jesus.  Lydia loved to tell others about Jesus and wanted them to know that God loves them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Pilkington.  Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Pastor Larry and Shirley Pilkington, Berwyn, Illinois; daughter, LeAnn Swank, Raytown, Missouri; grandchildren; Jon (Laurie) Pilkington, Steve (Christina)Pilkington, Cheryl (Zachary) Ward, Shara (Andrew) Brniak and Josh and Daniel Swank and great grandchildren; Sabrina, Samantha, Angelina and Jon Pilkington, Lincoln Brniak and Emerson, Elliott and Cohen Swank. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, but today she celebrates with her husband Lee, and Heavenly Father.

Visitation will be held 12-1 PM, Friday, July 8, 2016, with a funeral service will follow at 1 PM at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Mo 64133. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Freeman Cemetery in Kansas City.
