Lynne Powell

Lynne Powell (Ferbet-Fisher) died peacefully with her son Mark holding her hand.

Lynne was born in St. Louis to Lorraine and Harvard Fisher. She survived polio and took up dance at a young age. She danced until the mid 1980’s. Teaching ballet, tap and jazz. As well as performing liturgical dance. She was Married to Rev. Gary Ferbet from 1970 to 1993 and raised two sons. Lynne remarried in 2002 to David Powell. She was happily married until David’s death in 2020. She suffered from Dementia and resided at Maywood Terrace for the last few years of her life.

Lynne’s focus in life was fair representation of those with mental health issues. She struggled with her own mental health for many years. But even in her own struggles she worked tirelessly trying to help others at a self help center in St. Louis where she both volunteered, was employed and later on the board. She met her love David during this time of her life. She loved her grandchildren and their families deeply. Her grand children always brought a smile to her face even when she wasn’t sure who they were. She spoke with her mother nightly until her death at 94. And loved her sister Judy deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David O. Powell and parents, Lorraine and Harvard Fisher.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Warmbrodt; sons, Mark Ferbet (Teresa) and Bradford Ferbet; grandchildren, Cheyli, Natalya, Marlee, Claire, and Jackson Ferbet; and two step-grandsons, Zachary and Tyler.
