Madonna (Herbert) Wilson, 85, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Groves. Madonna was born April 24, 1920 in Malad City, Idaho to LeVaun and Sylvia (Jones) Herbert. After high school graduation, she attended Utah State Agricultureal College (now Utah State University) in Logan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1942. She spent the following year at Saint Mary’s Hospital, associated with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where she completed a residency course in dietetics. Madonna served as head dietitian for the Pullman School District from 1957 until her retirement in June 1982. She also served as president of the Washington State Dietetics Assoc. Madonna was a life long member of the Community of Christ Church. She and her husband, Tom, gave many years of service to the Pullman Mission and most recently attended Gudgell Park Congregation. Throughout her life she loved sharing her home with college students, traveling, playing piano, cooking for camps and reunions, knitting and fellowship with the Saints. She was most happy when in service to others. Madonna is survived by her sons, T. Barnard Wilson, Independence, MO, Tharyl R. Wilson, Clarkston, WA, Thad Wilson and wife, Jan, Independence, MO; eight grandchilren and five great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held with inurnment at Mound Grove Mausoleum, Independence, MO. The family suggests memorial contribtions to the Alzheimer’s Assc, Outreach International or The Groves Endowment Fund.
