Margaret Ann Beal

Margaret Ann (Calvert) Beal, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on April 12, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 87.

Born on April 21, 1937, in Lawrence County, Illinois to Merle F. Calvert and Mary J. (Dunlap) Calvert, Margaret was raised in Noble, Illinois where she attended grade school and high school. She met the love of her life, Charles, in Olney, and on April 24, 1954, Margaret and Charles were united in marriage. Together, they celebrated 69 years of devotion in Olney, until Charles’ passing on March 5, 2024.

Margaret’s life was a testament to her faith and love. She was a dedicated homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Margaret was a devoted wife, a cherished mother, and a friend to many. She found joy in cooking, the pages of a good book, and in sharing conversation with her friends and family.  In her earlier years, Margaret was a cosmetologist, worked at The Janet Shop and was supportive of her husband in the operation of their businesses, including Beal Mobile Homes and Holiday Mobile Home Village. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as an active member of Elm Street Christian Church  and the Christian Church of Olney throughout her lifetime.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Mary Calvert, and her beloved husband, Charles. She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Debbie) Beal of Columbia, MO, and Matt (Lynne) Beal of Beverly Hills, FL; her grandchildren, Amber (Jon) Klaas of Columbia, MO, Shawn (Liz) Beal of Columbia, MO, Stephanie (Dominick) Lee of Columbia, MO; and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Isabelle, Annie, and Frank Klaas, Zoe, Chloe, and Jolie Beal, and Lola Lee.

There will be a private family graveside service at a later date at the Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney, Illinois.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Margaret’s life exemplified this verse, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial contributions can be made to either the Christian Church of Olney or The Alzheimer’s Association.
