Margaret Elizabeth Southern age 59, of Eldon, MO, formerly of Olathe, KS, passed away May 8, 2023. She was surrounded by loved ones including her daughter and son.
Margaret, or otherwise known as Maggie, was a proud mother and Gammy. She loved everyone; and she loved so big. Everyone was family to her. She loved being a school bus driver for over 20 years with First Student beginning in Olathe, KS, then serving the lake of the ozarks area and surrounding.
Maggie was preceded in death by her Father Bennie Southern Sr., Mama Donna Southern, Mother Anna Southern.
She is survived by Daughter Shyla Townsend and Son Michael Merryfield (Alyssa), Brian Townsend (Grace), and grandchildren Abby, Kaylee, Kaleb, Harper and Harlee. Her brothers and sisters include Lulu Hernandez, Ben Southern (Susan), Tom Southern (Joann), Richard Southern (Jeannie), Colleen Kriese (Tim), Robert Southern (Wendy), Tina Turner (Frank), and Esther Southern. And an abundance of nieces and nephews.

I will miss you a lot . I know you are in heaven with momma and daddy and your newphew. I will always love you.

Even though we’re just a few months apart, you taught me a lot of things now you’re teaching me to be stronger and go on. I miss you.
I met Margaret while teaching at Dogwood Hills State School…she would always comment on whatever, and I always ended up with a little laugh, afterward.
I know she will be missed.
