Mariana was one of the gentlest spirits I’ve known, and I knew her most when I was a not so gentle teen and young adult! She had a quiet poise that invited friendship and love, and a quiet determination that let me know when a boundary was drawn. I suspect she had this same effect on her students as on her young sister in law. Her grace and her smile will be the memories I carry with me – along with some deep discussions about women in society, spousal roles, and Christianity. Mare was a proper Scrabble player and great reader and though I hadn’t seen her for decades, the world is a bit emptier knowing she has left us. Heartfelt condolences to the Olson’s, the Amey’s and Turners. May you be comforted in your time of grief. Shalom.

Arin, you’re one of the most giving and kind people I know. I imagine much of that comes from your sweet mom. We’re thinking of you and Helen and hope you have some peace on your heart very soon.

This photo is the Mariana that I (and my friends) loved when we were in high school. It brings a smile to my face, and a tear to my eye.

May she Rest In Peace and the family find joy in telling stores of the good times. ??
