Marie Ortiz

Marie Ortiz, 72, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away in her home on Wednesday, February 9, 2023 surrounded by family.  Marie was born March 30, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Trinie Pantoja and Sam Garcia. She later in life married Robert Ortiz, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2013.  Marie leaves behind her daughter Trinie Quiroz and husband Frank Quiroz; her son Robert Ortiz, Jr., and wife Celeste Ortiz; her stepdaughter Angela Ortiz (Frank): her sister Theresa Garcia-Pickens (Dale); grandchildren Nina (Vincent), Frankie, Robert III (Adrienne), Anissa (Nicole) and Leah; and great grandbabies Aubrey and Zoe Lyons.

Marie was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Junior Garcia.

Marie will always be remembered by all for her feisty character and her “tell us how you really feel” moments with family and friends.  She was not afraid to hold anything back.  She was a loving and devoted mom to her kids and a most special kind of grandma to her grandkids and great grandkids who she loved and adored to no end.

The family would like to say “Thank You ” to the nurses and staff at Saint Luke’s Hospice House for compassion and empathy they showed to our family.  The nurses were very comforting for our family in these last few days.

Graveside services will be held 11am, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St, Kansas City, Kansas 66102.
