Mark Eugene Lancaster, age 51, of Oak Grove, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Memorial services are Sunday, May 20, 2018, 1 – 3 pm at New Horizon Presbyterian Church in Odessa, MO
Mark was born on October 7, 1966, in Columbia, MO, to Darrell and Kaye Lancaster. He grew up in Blue Springs, MO, graduating from Blue Springs High School in 1985.
Mark loved fishing, working with his hands, repairing trucks, and watching baseball. This love of working with his hands was borne from his work at Sutherlands, Terminal Consolidation and Yellow Freight. He worked at Yellow Freight for many years, fulfilling his life’s dream, and making a great number of friends whom he considered family. Mark considered his sons, marriage to his wife and the day of his baptism as his greatest accomplishments during his time on this earth.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Lancaster, sister Carol Powell, and brother Eugene Lancaster. He is survived by his wife Melissa of the home, step-mother Dolly Lancaster of Blue Springs, sons Darrell Lancaster and wife Kelly of Clinton, MO, Dustin Lancaster of Odessa, MO, stepchildren Chris Hudson of Odessa, MO, Cheryl Katchmarik and husband Geoff of Oak Grove, MO, Craig Hudson of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Kaycee Lancaster, Jonathan Porter, Connor Katchmarik, Keelan Katchmarik, Joshua Hudson; brother Leon Lancaster and wife Joann of Blue Springs, MO, sister Tina Dale and husband Johnny of Grain Valley, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial donations are suggested to be made to Asana Hospice.

Melissa, my heart is forever with you. You are like family to us, you know that. I hate that we are so sick and couldn’t be there and you know I would’ve. If breaks my heart into a thousand pieces that I couldn’t be there for you. I love you with every beat of my heart as well as my children, as they consider you like a grandma. Melissa, I am so sorry to hear of you and your family’s loss of Mark. I hope all you think about are the good memories of him from now on! Make sure to write the fun memories down so you will have them to always remember him by… doing that has been a great help to me after losing my dad in March- I hope it will help you and your family as well!
