Mark Denes, age 59, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 in Kansas City. A celebration of life was held March 11, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Kansas City, with the Rev. Don Farnan officiating.
Mark was born on September 29, 1953, in Orange, Texas, the son of Frank L. and Marjorie Van Horne Denes. A longtime resident of Kansas City, Mark was known for his work in landscaping and floral gardening. He went by the name “Scissorhands” for his trimming abilities. He worked for many years with his brother Rusty, at Denes and Company, a tree care and landscaping business.
Mark met his future wife, Ellie Raap, in 2005. They were married on November 28, 2010, in Independence, MO. Mark and Ellie enjoyed hiking, preparing meals together, spending time with family and their pets.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet; a niece Debbie Denes. He is survived by his wife, Ellie; siblings Bob (Sarah), Ron (Susie), Michelle Wilson, Tina Phillips (Allen), Rusty and Joe (Lori); sisters-in-law Marian Jeffers (Duke), Marilyn Fitch (Gary) and Shirley Wynia (Rich); and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Activity Department at Timberlake Care Center, 12110 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
