As Grandpa would always get frustrated with all of his grandchildren his famous saying to us was ” Get Out of My Life”. Grandpa you will always be a part of our life past and present.

I knew Marvin Paddock all of my life. He was a gentle and kind man who had two everlasting loves – his children and the game of golf. I wish him all good things in the hereafter.

Marvin and I had four wonderful children. I am grateful to him for that and for the good memories. Even after our divorce, he was a guest in Bud’s and my home many times, Christmas Eve’s in particular.

I remember one funny incident, in particular that happened on Memorial Day when the family had an early breakfast at Shawnee Mission Park. We had just finished cooking when the winds came up, the skies grew black, and the police came by and told us we had to evacuate the park due to a possible tornado. Marvin and Dad Bowlin who had just started eating pancakes, kept right on eating while the plastic plates and silverware flew through the air all around them. Did they care? No. They were going to eat breakfast, no matter what. It was such a funny scene, although a scary one.

All our family and friends will have their own way of grieving for Marvin, but do not grieve too long. He would not have wanted that. He would want you to remember all the good times and you should be thankful you were a part of those good times for the years he was on earth. We all have to get on with our lives, but we will miss him and remember him in our hearts forever.

    Love, Mom and Bud

Hey Siblings, you know who you are. You know your dad would not want you to be so sad. He’s probably up there having a beer and playing golf. Try not to think of him being gone forever because you will see him again someday. He is in a better place, probably wishing he or Nana were back here cause you know she is giving him grief right now. lol. I know it’s hard, especially for Mikey since he was with him so much. Time will help but remember he lived a long life and did what he wanted. Played alot of golf, drank alot of beer and enjoyed himself. Remember the good times you had with him and know you will be together again someday. Let’s not make it too soon though, okay?
Had to try and lighten this all up for you guys, know you loved him and he loved you.
Love you guys, I am sorry you are in pain and if you need anything just call me. Ginger

Grampa:( Already five days have gone by and I miss you more than anything. I just wish I could of given you one last big hug and see that millon dollar smile you had. This past sunday was really hard watching the chiefs game becuase i always watched it with you. I kept telling myself im going to go up to rgs but then reality hit me and i couldnt. I want to thank you so much for being a part of my life. We had so much fun together from club soccer to highschool and college soccer. Me you and my mom had some great times going out of town for soccer tournaments. I will never foget the times we had together especially the time we went to oaklohoma and we both got drunk and i pass out in the elvator and you helped me:). People always told me how proud you were of me and what a great grandson i was but I just want you to know how proud I was of you. YOu were the greatest grampa anybody could have. I know you saw me the other day taking stuff from your house and wondering what i was doing but i had to take stuff that always reminded me of you what a great grampa you were. For the people that really didnt get to know you they missed out on a special man. You were really one of a kind and everybodys friend. Where ever you went you were making friends. Everybody would always say this is your grampa. I said Yes with a smile on my face and they said he is a great guy. I really wish we could of had several more years of good times together. I really cant wait to see you in heaven and have a drink with you and watch the chiefs. Well i have to wrap this up because its time to go to your visitation. Thanx again grampa for making me who i am today and everything you have done for me in my life. God bless you grampa. Your truly grandson son mike AKA your buddy:)

Dear Teryn, Candice, Mike, and Marvin’s family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I understand the pain and feeling of emptiness that you feel, as I lost my dad suddenly 12 years ago. The empty feeling is hard to bear, but eventually it will pass. The fond memories that you have will replace that empty feeling. My grandpa died on Christmas morning. Eventually that becomes a special part of memorializing your loss. Stay strong and cherish your memories. Take care.
    Karla and Jay
