Mary Ann Cornell, 89, Independence, MO passed away February 1, 2020. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2020 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. Following her cremation, she will be buried alongside her husband at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
She was born on a farm near Carrollton, Missouri, on August 19, 1931, the youngest of three daughters to Eunice (Brown) and Cliff Davies. She would go on to live nearly all of her life around Independence, MO. She was many things: devout Christian, loving mother, teacher, volunteer, loyal sister, beloved mother, and doting grandmother. Mary married the love of her life, Herman, when he returned from his military service in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mary worked 25-years as an elementary school teacher. Everyone who knew Maxine could tell you she had a heart for service. Her faith and devotion to the church were taught to her by her parents.
Mary’s husband preceded her in death as well as her parents, siblings and son, Mark. Maxine will be remembered fondly by her daughters: Mary Louise Kimball (Kerry) of Lawrence, KS, and Betty Ann Rudolph (Dennis) of Clearwater, FL: 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
